Town of Jay Seeks Community Input for Comprehensive Plan
Community survey available online now at planjay.com to shape vision for town’s future.
JAY, N.Y. — The Town of Jay has launched a community survey to gather comments and ideas that will shape the town’s comprehensive plan update. This survey is available online now at planjay.com.
“I am thrilled with the great turnout we had at our Comprehensive Plan Open House,” said Matt Stanley, Supervisor of the Town of Jay. “It was wonderful to see so many community members engaged and eager to share their thoughts and ideas for the future of the Town of Jay. This is an exciting opportunity for all of us to shape the direction of our town, and I encourage everyone who hasn’t yet completed the community survey to do so before it closes on November 22nd. Your input is invaluable, and together, we can create a plan that reflects our shared vision for Jay’s future.”
The community survey offers people a way to identify issues, share concerns, and provide ideas to guide the process of updating the town’s comprehensive plan. The Town of Jay includes the hamlets of Au Sable Forks, Jay, Upper Jay, and the Ausable Acres subdivision. All are welcome to complete the community survey at planjay.com, including residents, property owners, business owners, and those who work in or visit the town.
A comprehensive plan is a written document that describes a community’s goals and includes recommended actions to achieve those goals. The Town of Jay’s comprehensive plan was written in 1980 and last updated in 1997.
The Town of Jay received a $66,960 grant from the New York State Department of Conservation Smart Growth Program earlier this year to update the comprehensive plan. The Town of Jay will contribute up to $10,000 to the costs of the planning process, which is funded by Essex County occupancy tax. The process will take two to three years, and the final plan will be approved by the Town Board.
