Smart Meter Open House
NYSEG will be hosting a Smart Meter Open House at the Town of Jay Community Center on Tuesday, April 29th, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. The event will feature informational poster boards, handouts, and NYSEG staff available to answer any questions about the upcoming smart meter upgrade project. Residents are welcome to drop by at any time during the event. This initiative is part of NYSEG’s commitment to building a smarter, more reliable energy infrastructure for its customers.
Essex County DMV Extended Hours
The Essex County DMV will offer extended evening hours on Tuesday, April 29th, until 7:00 PM, to assist residents with obtaining a REAL ID. A REAL ID-compliant license will be required for certain federal purposes beginning May 7th. If you already have an Enhanced NYS Driver’s License, you are compliant and do not need to make any changes.
EV Infrastructure Grant Awarded
This week, Governor Hochul announced a new round of funding for electric vehicle infrastructure, and I’m excited to share that the Town of Jay has been awarded $206,403 from the $4.85 million total. This grant will fund the installation of two Level 2 charging ports and one DC Fast Charging (DCFC) pedestal, the only fast charger between Keene and Plattsburgh. Special thanks to Councilor Knut Sauer for leading the charge on this project from application to award. This is a fantastic opportunity to support our local businesses on Main Street in Au Sable Forks, without costing Town taxpayers a dime.
Wishing you all a great weekend,
Matt
