The Town of Jay Audit by the Office of the State Comptroller was released a few weeks ago, along with the corrective action plan approved by the Town of Jay Town Board in June.  The audit covered the 22-month period from January 1, 2021 – October 31, 2022.  When I took office at the end of November in 2021, I knew there were things I wanted to change in the operation of the Supervisor’s office.  This audit supported a lot of the changes we were making, helped encourage some changes that were underway, and raised some issues I had not thought of.  There was never any money missing from the Town of Jay, but there were issues with the timing of when some accounting entries were made for various reasons.  I am available to go over the audit and the corrective action plan with anyone who is interested, or you can view it on the Comptroller Website at: https://www.osc.state.ny.us/files/local-government/audits/2023/pdf/jay-town-2023-22.pdf

This coming weekend is Oozeball in Upper Jay hosted by the Upper Jay Fire Department.  The weekend begins with the first game Friday evening at 6:00pm behind the old fire house in Upper Jay in the Oozeball pit.  Activities will be ongoing until the Championship game on Sunday afternoon.   Along with the games, there is amazing food and a Chance Auction.  This is a fundraiser for the Upper Jay Fire Department, so please get out to support them.

This week is monthly meeting week at the Town of Jay.  On Wednesday, the Planning Board will be meeting, starting with public hearings at 5:30pm and 5:45pm and their regular monthly meeting starting at 6:00pm.  The Town Board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 7:00pm on Thursday.  As always, you can join these meetings in person, or online through GoTo Meeting.  The links are on our website.

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
