SUPERVISOR’S WEEKLY UPDATE

I was able to enjoy the last spring break with my entire family as my oldest daughter will be off to college next year.  My battery is recharged and I am excited to get back to work.  We have a lot of projects on the horizon so let’s get started!

I would first like to give a huge “Thank You” to Deputy Supervisor, Tom McDonald and Town Clerk Carol Greenley for handling the issues created by the spring snowstorm on April 19th.  Tom’s diligence in staying in contact with NYSEG and Carol efforts for getting communication out to the town did not go unnoticed.  I would also like to give a heartfelt “Thank you” to the Town of Jay Highway Staff for keeping our roadways safe and clear.  While being understaffed and machinery out of service, they were able to keep us safe, while other towns and the State struggled in near-by areas.

I also want to let you know that the Town of Jay is partnering with the Jay Fire Department to revive the 4th of July celebration after 2 years of not having the event due to COVID.  We are having a second meeting to discuss ideas and add new elements to this yearly tradition.  Please stay tuned, as we will be seeking volunteers to help setup, operate and clean up this event. We are looking forward to bringing back this incredible event!

I want to congratulate Chris Benway on his retirement from the Town of Jay Highway Department.  Thank you for your years of service and wish you the best in your future endeavours.

Lastly, I was invited to today’s presentation of the NY State budget by Governor Hochul. There are a lot of items in this year’s state budget to help the North Country. I had the pleasure of meeting her after the presentation and look forward working with her in the future.

Have a great week,

Matt Stanley.
