This week the new granite park bench was installed at the Town of Jay Village Green.  The bench is dedicated to Don Morrison for his decades of service for the upkeep of the Village Green.  This bench has been a long time coming as the first bench ordered was the wrong size.  Once we received the correct bench it was too cold to install.  I want to thank the Highway and Parks Departments for installing this wonderful addition to our Village Green as seen in the attached picture.

I was also able to attend the bi-annual Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages at the High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid and the AuSable River Valley Business Association annual meeting.  I was able to catch up with Assemblyman Billy Jones at both events and discuss topics ranging from our parks to our housing needs and issues.  In Lake Placid, there were discussions about outdoor recreation and how to use it to encourage growth in the economy and another discussion about code enforcement and the Short Term Rental (STR) issue.  Several good examples of regulation were discussed, but there is also some hesitation of regulation due to possible litigation.  All of these topics will be discussed as we move forward with updating the Town of Jay Comprehensive Plan.  I look forward to the public participation in the creation of this guidance document.

The upgrades to the Wastewater Project are moving ahead.  The construction phase of the project is out to bid and we hope to have a contractor under contract by the middle of the summer, with construction to begin in the fall.  This past week, MJ Engineering was at the Wastewater Plant to meet with potential bidders to answer questions about the layout and project needs.  The funding plan is being ironed out as a $1 million grant will fund a large portion of this project and the Town of Jay is working with the Town of Black Brook to fund the remainder.  We are still attempting to acquire funding for the second phase of this project to upgrade the lagoons.

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
