SUPERVISOR’S WEEKLY UPDATE

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.  We are ready to move into the Christmas season.  Christmas in the Forks celebration kicks off this Friday at 6:00pm with the Christmas Tree Lighting in Upper Jay.  Saturday will be full of activities around Au Sable Forks with a parade at 6:00pm down Main Street of Au Sable Forks followed by fireworks.  Roads in Au Sable Forks will be closed to traffic for the parade starting at 5:55pm. You can even stop into the Community Center to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus starting at 7:30pm. Check out the attached flyer for additional activities and times.

There has been a lot of discussion about plowing in Au Sable Acres and school bus pick-ups.  I can assure you all the roads in the Town of Jay will be plowed this winter as usual.  The warm weather deep into the fall has left the dirt roads unfrozen which makes them incredibly difficult to plow at higher speeds until the frost sets in. Please bear with us as our new employees get used to their new routes and as we wait for the dirt roads to harden for the winter.  We have met with Au Sable Valley to discuss busing and plow routes to ensure our residents, especially our children, are safe.

We are working on the contract with Voyent Alert which we hope to have up and running by the beginning of the year.  This alert system will keep you aware of emergencies, snow removals, and events that are happening around the town.  It is an opt-in system which you will have to sign up for and information on how to do so will be made available soon.  Once you are signed up, you can be informed by Robo-Call, text, email or through the Voyent Alert app on your phone.  I cannot wait to have this system available to keep you more informed.

Have a great week,
Matt.
