Friday night I was able to stop into the new art exhibit at the Tahawus Cultural Center.  This new exhibit titled “Autumn Through the Lens with Friends” is a collection of photos captured by local aspiring artists who spent a daylong workshop with Photographer, Rob Fountain.  The colors of the leaves and the landscapes presented looked like these photographers have been snapping pictures for a lifetime.  If you are interested in their next excursion, be on the lookout on the Tahawus Cultural Center Facebook page.

Yesterday, as I try to learn more about the services Essex County provides, I was able to get a tour of the Essex County Jail at the Public Safety building.  Going into this tour, I had some preconceived ideas of what the atmosphere would be after spending some time as a NYS Corrections Officer.  I will say I was quite impressed with how modern, clean and efficiently the Essex County Jail is operated.  Just like many area businesses, the county is experiencing difficulty obtaining staff, especially in corrections.  If you are looking for a job, there are several openings at Essex County.  For a list of current openings, please visit: https://www.co.essex.ny.us/jobs.asp
