Over the weekend I was fortunate to be invited to the Upper Jay Fire Department Banquet. The work our volunteer fire departments do for our Community is nothing short of amazing. The time and energy they put into being sprang into action at a moment’s notice is inspiring. Along with pins being awarded for years of service, their yearly awards were handed out. Firefighter of the Year went to Nick Nelson, Rookie of the Year was awarded to Corbin Guglielmo, Most Improved was Keaton Vincent and Most Dedicated went to Lee Torrance. In the picture attached is Firefighter of the Year and seasonal Town of Jay employee, Nick Nelson. Congratulations to all and Thank You for inviting me to represent the Town of Jay!
On Monday, we held a special meeting at the Town of Jay Community Center. During this meeting, we approved the purchase of a new New Holland Tractor to clear sidewalks and to work on the parks during the summer. We also approved the purchase of a new 12’ angle broom for the new loader which should arrive within the month. In other business that came in front of the board was a resignation letter from Chris Garrow as Interim Highway Superintendent. Chris will continue as a part-time consultant to help Deputy Highway Superintendent Chris Sorrell take over the reins. Thank you Chris Garrow for once again helping the Town of Jay right the ship and to Chris Sorrell for taking the lead as we go into the 2024 election for a new Highway Superintendent.
Lastly, this week there is no Town Board meeting. The Town Board regular meeting will be next week on Thursday, February 15th at 7:00 pm.
Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
