The 2024 Tentative Budget has been submitted to the Town Clerk and the Town of Jay Town Board to review prior to budget workshops which will happen the week of October 16th.  There are several assumptions made to prepare the Tentative Budget since we did not have concrete numbers yet for some of our biggest expenditures like Liability Insurance and Health Insurance.  I will be posting the dates for the budget workshops as soon as they are set.  We encourage the public to attend to gain a better understanding of what discussions and decisions go into the final budget by the town board.  Tentative Budgets are available with the Town Clerk if you would like to have a copy prior to the workshops.

The Town of Jay would like to welcome Cody Garren to the Town of Jay Highway Department.  Cody comes to the Town of Jay with a Class A CDL and years of experience driving tractor trailer at his previous employer.  The Town of Jay has received several other applications and interviews are ongoing.  If you are interested in working for the Town of Jay, we are still accepting applications for the Highway Department and Water and Sewer department.

Lastly, I would like to congratulate the Tahawus Center as the recipient of grants to help create the Tahawus Center’s Au Sable Forks: A Sense of Place Mural project.  This mural was created by artist Georgeanne Gaffney.  The mural can be seen between the AuSable Theater and Tahawus from the back of the building from the Town of Jay parking lot.

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
