Many people have been inquiring about their assessments in the Town of Jay this week.  The entire Town of Jay has had an increase of around 18% due to the recent surge in sales over the last couple of years.  This is not unexpected and not unique to the Town of Jay.  If you have questions, you can contact the Assessor’s Office here at the Town of Jay.  Grievance Day is May 24th, 3:30 to 5:30 and 6:00 to 8:00 by appointment.  I have included a flyer to explain how taxes are affected by assessment.

Essex County is holding a free Rabies Clinic at the Chesterfield Knights of Columbus on May 12th from 6:00 PM -8:00 PM.  Please call 518-873-3500 to pre-register.  For more information about this Rabies Clinic or others being held this year, please visit the Essex County Health Department website here:

My oldest daughter turned 18 last month and recently registered to vote.   I wanted to remind people to register to vote if they have not already and also mention that we have voter registration forms at the Town Clerk’s office or you can download and print your own from the Essex County Board of Elections website:

While you enjoy the warm weather with your dog, whether in one of our beautiful parks, or walking down the street, please remember to clean up after them.  We want to keep our town beautiful for the next person to enjoy.  Thank you and enjoy the outdoors this summer!

Lastly, I wanted to remind people about our Regular Town Board meeting on Thursday, May 12th at 7:00 PM.  You can always log into the meeting remotely:

Have a great week,

Matt Stanley.
