Climate Smart Task Force

Welcome to the Town of Jay Climate Smart Communities

The Town of Jay is committed to fostering a sustainable and resilient future through our active participation in the New York State Climate Smart Communities (CSC) and NYSERDA Clean Energy Communities (CEC) programs. Since formally adopting the Climate Smart Community Pledge in June 2023, we have made significant strides in reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing our community’s environmental health. Our dedicated Climate Smart Communities Task Force, comprised of passionate community members and local leaders, has spearheaded numerous initiatives, including the installation of energy-efficient LED streetlights, the adoption of battery-operated landscaping equipment, and the successful implementation of a community solar subscription. These efforts have not only reduced greenhouse gas emissions but also earned the town over $80,000 in grants, which are being reinvested into further sustainability projects. We invite you to explore our progress, join our initiatives, and contribute to making the Town of Jay a model of climate action and community resilience.
