A MESSAGE FROM TOWN OF JAY SUPERVISOR ARCHIE DEPO
I hope that everyone is enjoying the onset of spring and the warmer temperatures.
I wanted to reach out with some encouraging news. After careful consideration and attention to the latest CDC guidelines, I have made the decision to reopen the Community Center to visitors. We have chosen to continue to enforce a mask requirement in order to enter the building. This requirement applies regardless of vaccination status.
The Senior Nutrition site will be open and we are hosting their first meeting here this coming week. We look forward to activity within the building again!
Unfortunately, I have made the decision not to reopen the gym at this time as I do not feel that we have the adequate ventilation needed to keep everyone safe in that particular part of the building.
Another announcement that I am pleased to make is the reopening of our monthly Town Board Meetings to the public. Beginning with our June 10th meeting, the public will once again be allowed to attend in person. The Au Sable Forks Ambulance Squad has graciously allowed us to use their facility to host this meeting. We felt there was more space and ventilation there, allowing us to offer a safer gathering place for our residents and Board. Masks will be required and social distancing will be strictly adhered to at this meeting.
I am so pleased that together, we have followed the necessary guidelines so that we could relax some restrictions and finally get together in person again. It’s a sign that we are slowly returning to normal. I am excited to see you all again!
