A MESSAGE FOR THE DESK OF THE SUPERVISOR

From the Town of Jay Supervisors Desk

I am pleased to announce that last night, at the October 28th Special Board Meeting and Public Hearing, the Town of Jay Town Board approved and adopted the 2022 Preliminary Budget. This budget will now become the Adopted 2022 Budget. I would like to thank the members of the public who came to last night’s Public Hearing, we truly appreciated your input.  Your questions were thought provoking and showed a true interest in the future of our town.

I would also like to take this opportunity to publicly acknowledge Councilman Coolidge and Councilman Sauer for their positive involvement in this year’s budget process. They put in the hours and showed us all that teamwork is alive and well on the Town of Jay Town Board. Together, with the Board and my Clerk, Carol Greenley Hackel, we are confident that we have presented the people of the Town of Jay a budget that will take us successfully through 2022.

I would also like to extend my sincere congratulations to the Au Sable Forks Volunteer Fire Department, who were successful in their bid for a new firehouse. The public was informed of their intentions through various forums, mailings and informational meetings and when it came to a vote, the people spoke in favor. We wish them continued success as they move forward with this undertaking.

Once again, the Towns of Jay and Black Brook have joined forces to offer a community wide event that’s sure to please! We hope that you are planning to join us on October 31st for our 2nd Annual Halloween Parade which begins at 6:00 pm and will travel the streets of downtown Au Sable Forks. This year, we made it bigger and better so the fun does not stop there! The parade will end at the Town of Jay Community Center (which will be fully “dressed” for the occasion) where there will be awards for parade floats, music, trick or treating and a campfire with s’mores. Please plan to stay a while!

In closing, although there are some challenges ahead, I have no doubt that the Town of Jay will continue to move forward into 2022 with strength and determination.

Sincerely,

Tom McDonald

Town of Jay Deputy Supervisor
