A COVID 19 UPDATE FROM TOWN OF JAY DEPUTY SUPERVISOR TOM MCDONALD

Please be advised that as a result of a recent uptick in positive COVID 19 cases, Essex County has now reached “Substantial Status”. Because of this new rating, I feel that it is in the best interest of the Town of Jay residents and employees that we adhere to the CDC guidelines and the directive from Essex County Manager Daniel Palmer, which highly recommends reinstating the mask mandate.

This mandate will be in place, effective Monday, August 16, 2021, and will require all visitors to any Town of Jay office, regardless of vaccination status, to wear a mask. Town of Jay employees will now be wearing masks while interacting with the public, during meetings and whenever they are away from their workstations or in common areas.

Although we are all disappointed at the need for this new mandate, the Town of Jay takes this situation extremely seriously and is committed to keeping our community and its residents safe. I thank you in advance for your cooperation with this unfortunate situation. Please stay well.
