Water Main Break Successfully Repaired

A huge shoutout to our Town of Jay Water/Sewer and Highway Staff! Last Sunday, we experienced a water main break near Jay Village Green. Our team responded immediately, notifying the Department of Health, and within hours, the break was repaired, and water service was fully restored. Thanks to their swift and efficient work, no boil water notice was needed. Great job, Paul Mintz, Chris Sorrell, and your dedicated teams!

Building a Tech Innovation Ecosystem in the Adirondacks

This week, I had a productive meeting with Svetlana Filipson from the Adirondack Foundation to discuss building a Tech Innovation Ecosystem in the Adirondacks. This initiative aims to create more opportunities for people to live and work in the Adirondacks full-time while supporting a sustainable lifestyle. If the Town of Jay becomes involved, we could help rebuild our full-time resident population, boost school enrollment, and reduce the outflow of young talent seeking better job opportunities elsewhere.

Svetlana is currently looking for remote and hybrid workers living in the area. If you’re interested in learning more, visit https://adirondackfoundation.org/Adirondack-innovation-innitiative-a2i or reach out to Svetlana at svetlana.filipson@adkfoundation.org

Bid Open for Water/Sewer Department Heavy-Duty Truck

The Town of Jay Water/Sewer Department has issued a bid for a new heavy-duty truck, with submissions due by February 12, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Working closely with the Essex County Purchasing Department, we’ve developed a bid package that is available both on the Essex County website and, for the first time this year, on our own Town of Jay website, where you can find current and past bid postings. This purchase aligns with our asset management plan, helping us establish a 10-year lifecycle per vehicle for the department’s fleet.

Have a great weekend,
Matt.
