Highway Department Update: Last week, the Town of Jay Highway Department, in partnership with contractor Luck Brothers, completed paving 3.7 lane miles of town roads. Notable improvements included:

  • Jay Mountain Road: A 1.35-mile section, from the intersection of Glen Road to 270 Jay Mountain Road, was repaved. This section had been reduced to a single drivable lane due to wear and tear. Additionally, due to flooding earlier this summer and a washed-out bridge on Styles Brook Road, this stretch is currently the only passable route for several homes in the area.
  • Cross Street and AuSable Drive: These roads were also paved, with the work extending from Poplar Drive past Ridge Top.

A big thank you to our highway crew and Luck Brothers for their hard work, especially working so late into the year to get these vital sections completed.

2024 Town of Jay Toy Drive: The Town of Jay Toy Drive is now underway for the 2024 holiday season. Last year, over 60 children from more than 15 families benefited from the community’s generosity. This year, we are once again accepting toy and cash donations:

  • Drop-off locations: Community Center, 20 Main, Adirondack Mountain Coffee Café, Community Bank, Devin’s Deli, Northline Utilities, and Ward Lumber.
  • Cash donations can be made at the Town Clerk’s office.

If your business is interested in being a drop-off location or you’d like to get involved, please contact Town Clerk Carol for more details.

Community Center Holiday Hours: Please note that the Community Center will be closed on Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th in observance of Thanksgiving. Regular operations will resume on Monday, December 2nd. We hope you and your loved ones enjoy a safe and joyful holiday!

Happy Thanksgiving!
