The Town of Jay Comprehensive Plan Open House was very successful last Thursday evening. We had about 75-100 people visit to learn about what a comprehensive plan is, how it helps guide decisions for the future, how it can help us gain grant funding and how you can provide your input to help update the 1997 version. If you were unable to attend, do not worry, there will be other opportunities to get involved. Currently, you can fill out our community survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/6VNJNXD . Attached is a QR code that will also take you to the survey.
Today I received an email from the Essex County Public Health Director Linda Beers about free at home Covid-19 tests. As of late September, residential households in the U.S. are eligible for another order of four free at-home tests. You can order your tests at this link: https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-covid-19-and-medical-devices/home-otc-covid-19-diagnostic-tests#list . Orders will ship for free.
The Town of Jay is in the middle of the budget process for 2025. The Town Board will hold its second budget workshop on October 28th at 7:00pm at the Community Center. It will also be available on GoToMeeting at the same link as the Town Board meetings. The public hearing for the 2025 budget is tentatively set for November 7th. This year’s budget will be under the allowable tax cap.
Lastly, I would like to welcome new employees Craig Benway and Brooke Paries to the Town of Jay. Craig started in the Highway Department in September and Brooke started in the Parks Department a few weeks later. Both are adjusting well and will be huge assets to our team.
Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
