This week the Town of Jay Highway Department will be working with Luck Brothers to replace sidewalks on Church Lane and College Street in Au Sable Forks.  Church Lane will be closed intermittently as the sidewalks will be replaced on both sides of that street on the College Street end.  We are sorry for the late notice and inconvenience, but we were working around the schedule of the contractor as they squeezed us in before the snow starts to fly!  Attached is a picture of the work being started this week on Tuesday.

Last week I was able to attend the 3rd annual Forward Together Conference held at the High Peak Resort in Lake Placid which was arranged by the Lake Champlain Lake George Regional Planning Board.  The keynote address was given by Amanda Bearcroft, the NYS Department of State Program Director for NY Forward and Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) programs.  Our end goal of our Main Street Revitalization effort is to win one of these large grants to transform our Main Street, which is the gateway to the Adirondacks from the North.  I also learned about some additional grant opportunities through the Northern Boarder Regional Commission for housing, workforce development, and infrastructure upgrades.  This conference just cemented the fact that we are headed in the right direction with our Comprehensive Plan Update, Main Street Revitalization efforts and other planning because we are planning for the future we want!

Looking ahead to meetings and events happening in the Town of Jay over the next week.  Tomorrow, Thursday, October 9th at 7:00pm is our monthly Town Board meeting.  Next Thursday, October 17th from 5:00pm – 8:00pm will be our Comprehensive Plan Update Open House.  You can stop in anytime during that time frame to give your feedback for the direction you would like to see our town head.

Lastly, NYS Rt. 9N in the hamlet of Jay is now back open to traffic.  There will be some finishing touches being done over the next few weeks, but there should not be any detoured traffic.

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
