This past weekend, the Town of Jay Climate Smart Task Force (CSTF) held its first Sustainability and Energy Fair at the Jay Village Green in partnership with the Town of Keene. The first fair of its kind in the area was a success. There were several people from our town and the surrounding towns that inquired about solar power, electric vehicles, heat pumps, composting and more. I know a local business even picked up an applicant for a job! The success of this fair, along with the initiatives of the CSTF, will position the Town of Jay for a greener tomorrow. Attached is the Photo of the Month for ANCA!
This weekend will be another busy weekend with activities in the Town of Jay. Saturday is “Amnesty Day” from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm, or until the bins are filled, for Town of Jay residents to get rid of that waste around your property. We will be accepting tires (up to a certain size off the rim), electronics, metal, refrigerators (one per property), and more. We will not be accepting household trash. This event is exclusively for Town of Jay residents, proof of residency will be required. Take advantage of this opportunity to clean up your property, free of charge!
Also happening on Saturday, from 12:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Essex County Fairgrounds, is the annual Adirondack Harvest Festival. This event is free and has been growing in popularity over the last few years. You can listen to music, attend workshops, shop from local vendors and farmers, and even catch the 4-H horse show! If you would like more information, you can visit: https://adirondackharvest.com/festival/ .
Last week was our Planning and Town Board meetings. If you were unable to attend, the videos of both meetings are up on our website.
Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
