Weekly Update:
Jay Day was held at the Town of Jay, NY Village Green this past weekend. It was great to see the turnout for this event. Assemblyman D. Billy Jones stopped by our table to discuss the projects we have been and will be working on in the Town of Jay including the AU SABLE FORKS NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH program. Councilor Dwyer and I were able to talk to a lot of people about our upcoming Comprehensive Plan Kickoff meeting on October 17th and the Climate Smart task force initiatives. I would like to thank the Rotary Club of Au Sable Valley for the work they continue to put into this event.
Kick off your Labor Day weekend this Saturday, August 31 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the Au Sable Forks Fire Department Kickoff to Labor Day Barbecue. You can dine in or take out a ½ chicken with baked potato, corn on the cob and desert for just $15.00. See the attached flyer. On Sunday, September 1st, the Town of Black Brook will be hosting the annual Labor Day celebration starting with a parade at 1:00 pm down Main Street and fireworks just after 8:00 pm. Come join this long standing tradition and see some friends you have not seen in a while.
The culvert replacement on NYS Rt. 9N is ahead of the schedule I posted last week. The road is now closed to traffic and being diverted around on Glen Road and John Fountain Road. This area is congested with traffic. If traveling from Au Sable Forks to Upper Jay, I recommend using Stickney Bridge Road to Glen Road to Valley Road to avoid the mass amount of traffic around the detour. NYS Rt. 9N should be opened by the end of September if all goes to plan.
Lastly, I would like to welcome Chris Burke to the Town of Jay staff. Chris is our newest MEO at the Highway Department. Extremely excited to have you as part of our team!
