Last Thursday, we held our Town Board meeting which had been postponed from the week prior.  We discussed the updates of our currently ongoing projects such as the Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrades, the Community Center ADA upgrades, along with other various small projects around town.  We did agree to purchase a 2024 Ford F-350 for the Highway Department, which will replace an aging pickup truck which will be passed down to the Water and Sewer Department.  This meeting can be viewed from the link on our website on our Meeting Minutes page: https://www.townofjayny.gov/meeting-minutes

Last Wednesday was a great opportunity to spend some time with the Government Class from AVCS that has been coming to some of our Town Board Meetings.  We were able to see government in action at the New York State Capital.  I was able to take some time to chat with Senator Dan Stec, Assemblyman Billy Jones and Assemblyman Matt Simpson about some of the issues we are facing.  I asked for support from Senator Stec and Assemblyman Jones for our Bridge NY applications for Grove Road and Hesseltine Road.  Assemblyman Jones is also working on funding for our tennis/pickleball and basketball courts at Douglas Memorial Park in Jay.

I wanted to remind everyone about the Total Eclipse on April 8th.  NY State Police have issued warnings for local residents, as it is not known how many people will be in the area. They also made some recommendations to fuel up your vehicles before the day of the event, stock up on food and be ready for long delays on roadways.  ROOST will have a dedicated phone line, 518-621-3682, available through April 8th to answer questions leading up to the event.

Lastly, we are looking for a couple of alternates for our Board of Assessment Review.  This position would require 4 hours of training, on May 9th, and the individuals would need to be available all day on May 28th for grievance day.  Please contact my office if you are interested.

Hope you have a great week,

Matt.
