Last week we held our regular monthly Town Board meeting on Thursday evening. We discussed becoming a pro-housing community, agreed to fund the additional cost of the ADA upgrades to the Community Center using APRA and Occupancy Tax funds, and recognized Dan Deyoe and Adam Coolidge for their years of service to the Town of Jay. There were several other topics discussed and this Town Board meeting is now available on the website.
A few weeks ago, I was approached by a member of the community asking for expanded activities for our town’s aging population. The interest was sparked by the increased use of the gym for pickleball. The request was to find a location in the Community Center that could hold a ping-pong table and pool table. I once again asked the Essex County Office for the Aging if they could help us acquire something. I was informed that, in the beginning of January, a ping-pong table will be delivered to the Community Center. Once we have it available, we will let you know!
Lastly, I wanted to let you know the Town of Jay offices will be Closed on December 22nd – 25th in observance of Christmas. We will be open for normal hours beginning December 26th. We were also able to celebrate the holidays here at the Town of Jay with an employee lunch this week where Chris Garrow was thanked for his continued service to the town. We would like to say from our family to yours, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
