The Town of Jay is looking for individuals who are interested in working in our Water and Wastewater Department. The Water and Wastewater Operator position is now posted through Essex County and we are actively looking for applicants. Preference for the Water and Wastewater Operator will be given to individuals who are currently licensed, but we will train the correct candidate to be an Assistant Operator or Water and Wastewater Maintenance Person. Currently, our systems are being operated by former Operator and Town of Jay resident Paul Mintz. Thank you so much Paul and your family, for allowing Paul to be away from home, for helping us bridge the gap. We appreciate everything you are doing for the Town of Jay!
The Town of Jay Highway Department would like to welcome a new employee Jazmyne Allen. Jazmyne studied Diesel Mechanics at CV-Tech for 2 years, and most recently worked for a road work company. The Town of Jay Highway Department is still accepting applications.
Town of Jay Code Enforcement Officer Robbe Baer has resigned his position to focus on his construction business. While he has been a tremendous asset to the Town of Jay, we understand his ambition to grow his own business. We are contracting Rodger Tompkins, the current Code Enforcement Officer for the Town of St. Armand. Thank you Robbe for your years of service and welcome Rodger to the Town of Jay.
There is a fundraiser at the Jay Fire Department on Saturday, September 16 to benefit long-time Town of Black Brook Supervisor Ricky Nolan. Ricky recently lost his home to a tragic fire. There will be a michigan/hot dog dinner and silent auction from 3:00 – 5:00 pm, and a live auction at 5:00 pm. See the attached flyer for more information.
Lastly, this is regular monthly meeting week at the Town of Jay. Wednesday evening is the Planning Board meeting at 6:00 pm with a Public Hearing starting at 5:30 pm. The Town Board meeting is on Thursday at 7:00 pm. Both meetings will be streamed as usual and the links can be found on our website.
Hope you have a great week,
Matt.
