July 9,2024 Update:
Concrete stairs, landing and ramp completed along with all concrete sidewalks with control and expansion joints. Tactile warning strips have been installed at the top of the stairs. Galvanized railing is on site. Lift has been inspected but is waiting on key system and disconnect box cover. Hairline cracks in concrete noted.
June 27, 2024 Update:
The new ramp, stairs and sidewalk have all been poured. The topsoil has been replaced around the area and is ready to be seeded. This project is about 90% complete at this time.
June 7, 2024 Update:
Work is continuing by forming the ramp and stair landings. The foundation walls are complete, compacted and backfilled. Discussion about surrounding sidewalks with the Town and General Contractor. The lift door frames were patched, repaired and repainted.
May 24, 2024 Update:
Work continues with the formation of the foundation walls for the ramp. The concrete footings have been installed for the ramp and landing only at this time. the concrete sidewalks have been cut and removed. Lift has been installed and awaiting inspection. Door frames of the lift need to be touched up from excessive caulk. Seats have been modified and installed around the lift shaft in the gym.
March 19, 2024 Update:
The Town of Jay Highway Department has removed the ramp and granite steps. A temporary ramp has been installed to the western door of the Community Center. The General Contractor is working on preparing for the new concrete beam under the front door. The lift door openings have been cut through the concrete and the lift shaft has been created in the seating area of the gym.
March 7, 2024 Update:
The Town of Jay Highway Department has relocated the water fountain to the west side of the gym door across from the town court entrance. The temporary ramp has been ordered by the town which will allow removal of the old ramp and stairs. The General Contractor has removed the seats in the gym and are preparing for cutting through the concrete and terra-cotta for the lift openings.
February 5, 2024
Work has begun on this project. Project Signage is mounted on a concrete jersey barrier at the front of the building. Branon Construction has been bringing equipment and material to begin on the lift part of the project. It is great to see this project begin!
December 14, 2023
Construction is set to begin over the winter on the ADA Upgrade which will be funded by a CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) ADA Accessibility grant and ARPA (American Rescue Plan Act) money to complete this project. This will make the building for accessible for voters because the front doors will now have openers on them and we will for the first time, have complete handicap accessibility to the second floor. We are very excited to get this project underway…
